Hi, my name is Ikjot Bedi, and I am the VP of Education for BoostHER. This means that I work with a team of writers to post articles pertaining to female empowerment in the workplace. I am in my 4th year of Medical Sciences, doing an Honours Specialization in Physiology. I joined BoostHER at the recommendation of a friend, and I can safely say that I love the team of individuals I get to work with. I am fortunate enough to work with inspiring young women who are all passionate about equity and equality in the workplace for women, especially those who face additional barriers.
I have been fortunate enough in my life to have a support system that encouraged me to pursue any dream I have ever had, and to not get discouraged by any adversities I faced. My specific interest has been the inequalities that women have faced in the healthcare field, whether it be as a patient or as a healthcare provider. My educational background has given me insight into the field, and my love for reading has educated me on the issues that are prevalent today.
Some fun facts about me are… I have a dog named Mowgli! He is a cocker spaniel and poodle mix, and is turning 7 years old in July. He looks friendly and harmless but his barking could probably turn me deaf. Another cool fact about me is that I am quite crafty. I love painting, drawing, and making things. One last fun fact about me is that I work at the Spoke, so if you ever see me around, be sure to say hi!
