Get to Know Ashmit

Hi, my name is Ashmit! I am one of the blog writers for BoostHer. I am in my third year of honors specialization in biochemistry. I joined BoostHer because it serves as a platform for advocacy and empowerment of women, b​​oth of which I am extremely passionate about. Navigating through predominantly male-occupied spaces showed me exactly how necessary it was to find places that uplifted and supported one another. Organizations like BoostHer and those akin, celebrate discourse of all kinds and amplifies the voices of those historically silenced. We operate under the assumption that as students our voices and opinions are insignificant amongst a larger scale, but what we choose to talk about and who we talk about matters. The little time I have outside of studying, I love unwinding with a good book or writing in my journal. Although I consider myself a novice, I find it therapeutic to use writing as an outlet for expressing my emotions and reflecting and I hope to share that joy in my writing here. 

A fun fact about me is that I’ve fallen victim to the pilates hype and now cannot imagine doing any other workout- as someone who religiously only did cardio, pilates was a life changer. The barre in downtown London is the best one I found so far or move with Nicole for a good at home workout.
